After two years and three major titles, Team WFR has taken the difficult decision to have a break from competing in top level motorsport. Both Team WFR riders failed to score any points in Race 2 of the final British Superbike Championship round at Brands Hatch as James Westmoreland crashed out after Alex Lowes retired with a technical problem. Race 2 Alex had been running in 3rd when a technical issue caused him to sit up on lap 13 which let a host of riders through, including Barry Burrell, Michael Laverty,Josh Brookes and teammate Westy. Alex Lowes failed to score any points in Race 1 of a triple header weekend at Brands Hatch as a wet track caused him to crash out on lap 15 whilst running in 2nd. The race was red flagged just seconds later. Race 1 Alex made a good start from pole position to slot into 2nd behind Shane Byrne and after a tussle with Michael Laverty, a mistake by the Samsung rider allowed Alex to pull away from the pack and begin to chase down Shakey. Alex Lowes claimed his fourth pole position of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season at Brands Hatch earlier today (Saturday) as the young title challenger held off local hero Shane 'Shakey' Byrne ahead of race one this afternoon. Alex Lowes converted his pole position start into a brilliant maiden victory in the first British Superbike race at Silverstone today (Sunday). Race 1 Alex didn’t make the best of starts from pole position – but soon managed to climb his way to 2nd as a fantastic and thrilling race unravelled. By the third lap Alex had found a way past Michael Laverty on the Samsung Honda and held the lead for 2 laps before Shane Byrne stormed to the front of the 6 leading riders. Read More…
Alex Lowes secured his third pole position of the season at Silverstone today (Saturday) to setup an exciting penultimate round of the British Superbike Championship. Alex’s pole position was clearly no fluke having topped all three practice sessions at the Northamptonshire circuit, and a blistering time of 2.05.662 was more than enough to secure top spot on the grid for tomorrow’s first race. Alex Lowes got his title bid off to the best possible start by claiming pole position at the famous Assen TT Circuit in Holland today (Saturday). Throughout the free practice sessions on Friday and Saturday Alex showed he’d have the pace to challenge for pole position, and when the time came he didn’t disappoint.
